Twelve teams advance to Tiger Cage semifinals. 

Twenty-one outstanding student-led teams, representing the Harbert College of Business, the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, the College of Forestry, the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Architecture, Design and Construction, the College of Veterinary Medicine, and Auburn University-Montgomery pitched their business ideas before industry professional judges on Friday January 26 at the Harbert College of Business. Twelve teams were selected to advance to the February 23 Tiger Cage semifinals round.

The advancing teams who are one round closer to the final round where they will compete for $80,000 in funding are:

AbGlo – Dream EV – Early Bird – Elixa Industries – Empowering Electric Mobility – Focus Friends – Mammoth Super Sod – Menu Match – PALS Palette Productions – Patella Protector – ROME – The Digital Athlete.

“Every year we see greater diversity in the range of startup ideas and improvements in the quality of the student-team presentations,” said Lou Bifano, Director, New Venture Accelerator, at the Harbert College of Business. “This year, which is the 10th anniversary of the Tiger Cage Pitch Competition, we had the highest number of teams participating, the highest level of participation among female students ever, and the most schools and colleges being represented ever, as well.  Interest in all thing’s entrepreneurship across the Auburn University campus is exploding.”

In its tenth year, the Tiger Cage business pitch competition discovers and rewards early-stage products, services or business concepts that emerge from Auburn University students. Recent success stories include, Vulcan Line Tools, Room2Room Movers, Dropllel, Archangel Defense, OMNISFlashtractYellow Card, and Tennibot.

The Tiger Cage final round – featuring the teams that advance from the semifinals – will be held on March 29 in the Broadway Event Space and Theater located in Horton-Hardgrave Hall. There, teams will compete for $80,000 in early-stage startup capital.
